Comedy Central Writer Complains That Conservatives Are Ruining …
May 19th, 2012That’s funny because I’ve often complained that liberals ruined Comedy Central and Saturday Night Live.
What the writer really means is that it isn’t funny when conservatives do it…
Today Former White House Press Secretary Bill Burton attempted to start a hashtag game called #RomneyYachtNames. It’s so unfunny and forced, it’s exactly the kind of thing that would trend on Twitter. And it did, but not the way Bill Burton intended.
Conservatives hijacked the hashtag and soon started their own called #ObamaYachtNames. Never mind the fact that that barely makes sense. The stereotypes about Obama aren’t that he’s rich and owns yachts. That’s Romney’s thing. Obama is the elitist black liberation theology professor who eats kale with a side of dog, remember?!
But that’s not the only conservative hashtag game that’s caught in this week. Just in the past few days, the ones I’ve seen: #MorePopularThanObamaBudget, #ObamaInHistory, #ObamaFirsts, #LowerUnderObama,
#ObamaBedtimeStories, #HomophonesforObama. If you feel like punishing yourself, just scroll down @MichelleMalkin Twitter feed. Re-tweeting the unfunniest garbage tweets she can find is apparently a hobby of hers.
Here’s my favorite part…
Everyone in power deserves to be ridiculed. If that wasn’t true, we’d be wasting our time with this blog (instead of just wasting your time with this blog). I don’t have a problem with these hashtag games politically. I have a problem with these hashtag games comedically.
Really? Everyone in power deserves to be ridiculed?
Are you sure you don’t want to add the words “except Obama” to that statement?
Read more on this at TWITCHY.
And of course Jim Treacher.

Kutcher's Arrival Helps Revive a Comedy – Media Decoder – The …
May 13th, 2012How much did the departure of Charlie Sheen hurt the comedy “Two and a Half Men”?
Not in the least. CBS announced Saturday that, as expected, the reconstituted “Men” would be back for its 10th season in the fall with its new star, Ashton Kutcher, and the rest of the cast.
Far from damaging the comedy, the attention that surrounded Mr. Sheen’s exit and Mr. Kutcher’s arrival revived interest in the show, which will end this season up in the ratings from the last season with Mr. Sheen.
The show has averaged 15 million viewers this season, an improvement of 13 percent over last season, and has a 5.2 rating in the advertiser-preferred category of viewers between the ages of 18 and 49, a 27 percent increase over the previous year.
CBS naturally wanted that type of a hit back on its schedule. The only question was whether new deals could be worked out for Mr. Kutcher and his co-stars Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones. Those were finalized Saturday. CBS will announce its new fall schedule in New York on Wednesday.
